Hotel Basalt is located in Lundarreykjadal, one of Borgarfjörður's valleys surrounded by lovely Icelandic countryside, about 100 km from Reykjavík. 
We offer 13 well-equipped rooms, a 50-person restaurant and a 12-person hot tub where you can enjoy life with a great view of the valley or up to the night sky and the dancing northern lights in winter. 
In addition to peaceful countryside and beautiful nature, there are also many things to do nearby. 
There are beautiful hiking trails on site, Þingvellir, Reykholt and Borgarnes are within an hour away and ten minutes away from the hotel is Krosslaug, a hiking trail to Pétursvirki and the farm Oddsstaðir where horse riding is offered.
The road through Lundarreykjadal connects the West and the South over Uxahryggi and through the national park Þingvellir.
The Silver Ring, the Golden Ring and Snæfellsnes are examples of interesting day trips from the hotel.
Kaldadalsvegur also runs from Uxhryggij, from where you can get through the highlands of Iceland, to Langjökull and down to Húsafell, for example.
